Source Water Protection – New Municipal Well for Winchester

Updated technical studies and mapping have been completed for a new municipal drinking water well serving Winchester. As part of this work, updated Wellhead Protection Areas (WHPAs) and vulnerability mapping have been identified within the Raisin–South Nation Source Protection Plan to help protect municipal drinking water sources.

Some properties within the updated Wellhead Protection Area may be subject to drinking water protection policies under Ontario’s source protection program.

 At this time:

No immediate action is required from property owners
Public feedback is being collected before updates are finalized
Certain existing or future activities may be reviewed to help protect drinking water quality and quantity

Examples of activities that may be addressed include fuel storage, chemical handling, waste disposal, agricultural nutrient management, and snow storage.
